Eradicating Tuberculosis
The Challenge
For low-income families, tuberculosis is devastating. Treatment is long, medicines are strong, and missing work means missing meals. As a result, many patients abandon treatment—leading to relapse, drug resistance, and loss of life.
AMG’s Intervention
AMG designed a community-based TB care model that integrates medical treatment with nutrition, monitoring, and accessibility—ensuring patients complete treatment without risking family survival.
What We Did
- Supported 2,000 TB patients with monthly medicines and food rations
- Established and supported 600+ DOTS centers across 7 mandals in Guntur District
- Operated general hospitals, slum clinics, and mobile medical units
- Conducted regular health camps and follow-ups in rural and underserved areas
Impact
- Improved treatment adherence
- Faster recovery and return to work
- Reduced transmission within families and communities
Outcome
TB patients completed treatment with dignity—without choosing between health and hunger.
